Aviation Squadron
• This squadron is also not an aviation squadron, despite the confusing name. An aviation squadron is responsible for managing operational activities at the base, which form the basis for operational support for a variety of tools and units
• • Information Security Branch – In the past, this branch was called the Field Security Branch. Responsible for granting entry permits to the base and to the computer systems, for “whitening” or “blackening” magnetic media, for diagnosing and classifying the security of the entire base population, for covert or overt activity. The branch consists of information security NCOs and information security officers. The rank of the branch commander: Captain or Major.
• • Ground Defense Division – responsible for routine security at the base. With a variety of tools:
• • Security Operations Center that coordinates all security activities,
• • Consulting all divisions in the areas of security, and securing various events at the base.
• • Regular department responsible for static security – facility security guards operating on a week-by-week service basis.
• Strategic Defenders Company or Security Company – A soldier in a “Defenders” company whose mission is to provide high-quality ground defense of strategic assets for the State of Israel at the Air Force base, using advanced technology, high-quality, talented, equipped and skilled personnel. Sailing missions are characterized by dynamism and compliance with short standby times that require the mental ability to change perception between routine and emergency situations.
• • A representative example of the above is the Negev Squadron (Defenders of the Negev Squadron) at the Nevatim Air Force Base (28th Air Base), a squadron that is divided into teams and even periodically carries out operational employment (TAAM) activities, an unusual thing that indicates a high level of training.
• The majority of it comes from the Air Force Infantry School at the 314th Infantry Division. The Negev Squadron is the only squadron in the Air Force that is composed of fighters who have undergone fighter training at the 314th Infantry Division and not strategic defenders.
• A kennel responsible within the scope of his duties for: dog care (food, water, medical care), training, maintenance of the dog line, security of parades, security of anti-aircraft deployments and military events.
• Runway Services Branch or Operational Airport Branch – Responsible for operating the control tower at the base, and the fire stations at the base.
• • Control Tower – Provides air traffic control services within its area.
• • Fire Station – Responsible for operating the basic fire stations.
• • Providing training in this field.
• • Maintaining firefighting equipment at the base (fire extinguishers, hoses and sprinklers).
• • Training all units in this field and constant alertness at the station.
• • Standing on alert and assisting civilian fire and rescue units.
• • Fire station soldiers serve on a weekly basis.
• • Functional Continuity Branch – Responsible for functional continuity in all matters related to ongoing operations. Consists of the Preparedness Department and the Defense Department
• • Defense Department – Responsible for all defense at the base in the field of ABM and in the field of TBK (unconventional terrorism). Among other things, by conducting training, practicing and maintaining defense measures.
• • The Readiness Department – is responsible for leading the basic readiness issue, deployments at or from the base.
• • The Operations Department – is responsible for the connection between the base and the Air Force Headquarters through the Central Control Post (Central Control Post) which was later called the Wing Command Post (Wing Command Post). It is also responsible for receiving the intelligence picture. In most cases, the commander of this department is the Deputy Commander of an Aviation Squadron (Squadron).
• The commander (known as the MTA) and his deputy (SMT) are usually aircrew or aviation personnel or operations personnel at the rank of lieutenant colonel and major (respectively). At the head of an aviation squadron is the central control post (Moshalam), which is staffed 24 hours a day by operations clerks (PKMts) and operations officers (KMBts) whose job is to centralize all operational information related to the base, handle events, and liaise between the flight squadrons and Air Force headquarters
