The IDF paratrooper brigades include the 35th (regular) Brigade, which consists of battalions such as the 890th, 101st, 202nd, and the 5135th Paratrooper Brigade, and an elite reserve division known as the Fire Division (98th Brigade), which includes reserve brigades such as the 55th (“Half Fire”) Brigade and the 646th, which specialize in deep warfare and vertical flanking, in the Central Command, as part of the reserve paratrooper formation operating alongside other brigades such as the 226th (“Eagle Division”) Brigade in the Northern Command.
Regular Paratrooper Brigades:
Paratrooper Brigade (35): The central regular brigade, which includes battalions (890 “Apa”, 101 “Fatan”, 202 “Tsafa”) and a paratrooper patrol (5135th Parachute Regiment).
Fire Brigade (98th AoG): A combined regular and reserve division under Central Command, which includes the 35th Brigade as well as reserve brigades.
Paratrooper Brigades in Reserve:
55th Brigade (Half Fire): A central reserve brigade operating within the Fire Division, composed of Paratrooper Brigade veterans and operating under Central Command.
646th Brigade (Sky Division): Another reserve brigade for combat and landing.
Brigade 226 (Eagle Formation): A reserve paratrooper brigade in the Northern Command, subordinate to the Explosive Formation.
Additional battalions: Alongside the brigades, there are additional reserve paratrooper battalions such as Battalion 771, which became part of Brigade 35 upon its establishment.
The paratroopers, in reserve and regular, specialize in performing vertical flanking via parachute, assault landings by helicopter, and deep warfare.
