• Armaments Corps Lapel Pin 1950s

• The Haganah’s Armaments Department was established. The department dealt with the acquisition, concealment and transportation of weapons, in cooperation with the military industry (the department’s commander was Asher Peled). In January 1948, the Armaments Department became the “Armaments Service”.
• The War of Independence (November 1947 – January 1949) – The first units for vehicle restoration and improvement (BMV – basic workshops) were established.
• 1951 – The “Technicians’ Corps” in the IDF was renamed the Armaments Corps.

·        The Corps’ main focus is on maintaining and developing weapons and combat support equipment. Its personnel are engaged in research, development, testing and testing of combat systems, developing maintenance methods and training personnel to provide maintenance solutions for all combat equipment. The Armaments Corps personnel are responsible for maintaining a wide range of systems and equipment, from the soldier’s personal weapon to the Merkava tank, and are found in all IDF units at the front and in the rear.·        • The Merkava tank was developed by the Corps.·        • Name change: In 2016, the Corps’ name was changed from “Armaments Corps” to “Technology and Maintenance Corps” as part of a branding and image improvement process.
