It was captured by the IDF during the Six-Day War and used as an Israeli base for about 18 months.<\/li>\n<li>Activity: Due to the limitations of the airfield, it was used mainly for light aircraft and helicopters. It served as a permanent base for the 66th Anti-Aircraft Battalion and as a deployment base for flight school training.<\/li>\n<li>Closure: Following the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, the base was evacuated and closed on May 23, 1979.
