גורג'ט GORGET (מגן צוואר בעצם מגן חזה )
גורג'ט ' (Gorget) הוא מונח רב-תכליתי המתייחס לפריט שריון להגנה על הצוואר והחזה, קישוט צוואר, , שמוצאו מהמילה הצרפתית ל"גרון" (gorge). במקור, היה זה שריון פלדה מימי הביניים שמגן על צוואר אביר, אך עם הזמן הפך לסמל סטטוס צבאי (כמו תג דרגה), וכיום הוא מופיע גם כקישוט או כחלק משריון פנטזיה.
שימושים היסטוריים
- שריון אבירים: צווארון פלדה או עור שהגן על הצוואר והעצמות הבריח, חלק ממערך השריון המלא.
- סמל סטטוס צבאי: במאה ה-17 וה-18, הפך הגורג' העשוי פלדה (לעיתים מצופה זהב) לסמל דרגה עבור קצינים, והיווה שריד אחרון לשריון.
- קישוט: הופיע גם כקישוט חצי סהר (crescent) על שרשרת, כסמל דרגה או כקישוט טקסי.
