היסטוריית כפתורים וכפתורים צבאיים
ממש בהתחלה היה זה כנראה קוץ או עצמות דג ששימש פין של בגד.
כל זה היה בתקופה פרהיסטורית – בתקופת האבן, אך מנקודת המבט שלנו של כפתור מלא , מקורו בתקופת הברונזה, בנקודה זאת ניתן למצוא יחד עם סיכה או מחט ואז שימש הכפתור כפריט קישוטי. השימוש הפרקטי הראשון היה במאות ה 12-13.
עם התפרסות האופנה בתקופת הרוקוקו הפכו הכפתורים לפולחן- היה זה עת המעילים והווסטים היו להם יותר מ 70 כפתורים !!!הראשונים שהשתמשו באלמנט החדש של הבגדים היו בני האצולה, אך גם הקצונה הבכירה החלו להתעניין וזה לא לקח הרבה זמן והאופנה הזאת הטילה עוגן בצ'כיה , החלוץ הראשון היה קראו לו קריסטיאן הייקה פ]טרוביץ מאז 1770 בצפון בוהמיה משם משם התפשטנה לשאר צ'כיה ולוינה.
