הפלחה"ן (פלוגת החבלה וההנדסה) הוקמה בשנת 1984 כחלק מהקמת חטיבת גבעתי המחודשת. ייעוד פלוגת ההנדסה החטיבתית היה לפרוץ את הדרך לכוחות הלוחמים ולהובילם לעבר היעד. מאז הקמתה השתתפה הפלוגה במארבים ובמבצעים מיוחדים רבים במסגרת פעילות הבט"ש, בגזרת גבול לבנון, רצועת עזה, ואזור יהודה ושומרון. חיילי הפלוגה זכו לצל"ש מפקד פיקוד הדרום, על פעילותם המצטיינת בצומת נצרים בספטמבר 2000 בפרוץ האינתיפאדה השנייה. בשנת 2001 הפלוגה שולבה במסגרת גדס"ר גבעתי שהוקם אז, והתקיימה במתכונת זו עד שנת 2019.
